Member Stephen Burman gave an excellent presentation on his visit to 'Antarctica'. His photographs and small video clips gave a very good insight into the landscape, seascapes icebergs and the wildlife he was able to record.
Stephen described his photographic equipment he used and the difficulty he experienced when trying to take photographs when in a small boat. He also described the difficulty in getting on land as his group could not always do safely due to ice from breaking glaciers making access unsafe.
He did however take excellent images of whales, seals, penguins, and sea birds all of many species,
He also spoke of the problems arising from climate change, particularly in relation to penguins he photographed on their nesting site. He observed here that the sites are becoming very muddy due to rising temperatures and this is having a detrimental effect on breeding numbers.
This was an interesting and inspiring talk appreciated by his fellow members
Next Tuesday we welcome Ken Lindsay who will talk on his 'Travel to Cuba' and 'Making the Most of Your Images'
